The unprecedented operation also involved the transport of the “ASTROS” launcher vehicle, belonging to the Marine Corps.
The operation, coordinated by the Aerospace Operations Command (COMAE) through the First Troop Transport Group (1st GTT) – Squadron Zeus – one of the FAB units operating the KC-390, carried out, for the first time, this Friday (03/21), the transport of the ASTROS artillery system, departing from Galeão Air Base (BAGL) and heading to Fortaleza (CE), with a technical stop in Salvador (BA).
The ASTROS system, which weighs approximately 24 tons, was loaded onto the aircraft and moved to the Northeast in just a few hours, landing at 4:30 PM in Fortaleza, demonstrating the speed with which the Armed Forces can redistribute their combat resources.

The deployment of the Astros missile system is related to the operation between the Brazilian Navy (MB) and the French Navy (MNF), which began on 03/16, the “Jeanne d’Arc 2025” operation. The joint exercise, taking place until 04/02 near Fortaleza, aims to improve interoperability between the forces and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The MANSUP represents a significant advancement in the Brazilian Navy’s combat capabilities, increasing the country’s autonomy and sovereignty in defending the so-called Blue Amazon — a maritime area under national jurisdiction.
The ASTROS system, in turn, is one of the main missile launch platforms for the Navy, providing mobility and versatility to the operation.
